Funded by the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade and administered by SLEP’s Business Enterprise Centre, the program is designed to support entrepreneurs and small business owners by combining grant funding, coaching, mentorship and community support.
Six grants totalling $30,000 are available through the program. Each grant comes with personalized business coaching and access to peer-led support sessions.

Successful applicants can either grow their existing business or start a new one said SLEP Business Enterprise Centre manager Chantelle Core.

“Starter Company Plus gives entrepreneurs the opportunity to create, fund, and expand upon their business ideas in a positive, community-led environment that is fostered through our cohort of local business professionals.” Core said. “We recognize that small businesses are the biggest driving force to improving the economic well-being of the Sarnia-Lambton area, and Starter Company Plus is a great way to showcase how important new business ideas are to our economy.”

Applicants must be over the age of 18 and not currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution. They must also have at least 25 per cent of the request grant amount in equity and not be a past recipient of a Starter Company Grant.
